to support SADAG’s teen suicide prevention campaign

13 of South Africa’s most influential and funniest celebrities were treated to a delicious three-course dinner at Sandton’s Metro Restaurant in Benmore Gardens Shopping Centre, to raise funds for the South African Depression and Anxiety Group’s (SADAG) teen suicide prevention programme – “Suicide Shouldn’t be a Secret”. Hosting over 130 guests were Isidingo’s Hlubi Mboya, DJ Lady Lea, Comedians Rabin Harduth, Mel Miller, Vittorio Leonardi, Dave Levinsohn and Malcolm Ferreira, 5FM’s Nicole da Silva, Angela Guastella and Erica Elle, Primedia Broadcasting’s Editor-in-Chief Katy Katopodis and from All Access Mzansi, Jason Greer. Playing the role of MC on the night was the fabulous Aki Anastasiou. These amazing celebrities did not only donate their time in aid of SADAG’s school programme, but through their support also helped SADAG to keep SA’s ONLY toll-free Suicide Crisis Helpline 0800 567 567 running.

Some of the city’s top corporates, including KPMG, Group Five, Sanlam Life, Sappi, Liberty, Broll Property Group, Sandoz SA, Pam Golding, MTN, BARC SA and the Mining Qualifications Authority also joined the dinner table to help raise funds for the
Suicide Shouldn’t be a Secret” campaign.

There was never a dull moment on the evening as performers Sam Peo and Clifford Cooper, comedians Mel Miller, Dave Levinsohn, Vittorio Leonardi and Malcom Ferreira, as well as 94.7’s Radio Express DJ Vin Deysel kept the crowd entertained. During the evening, well-known artist John Adams created a painting of our nation’s father Madiba. John began with a blank canvas and began painting upside down. This artwork, together with various other items, including a haircare hamper donated by Giovanni Batista Haircare, a Future Life hamper, Comedian Darren Maule’s Survivor island immunity idol drum, an official Bok rugby hamper sponsored by SA Rugby and a copy of Mandy Wiener’s book, Killing Kebble autographed by all the gangsters mentioned in the book, were auctioned off at the event.

The event was a huge success with guests requesting we make this event an annual one…so watch this space to be a part of our next FUNdraiser!!!
