Big Bully Webinar (30 August 2023)

Bullies are everywhere. You don’t just find bullies on the playground - they’re in the workplace, in relationships and in schools where they wreak havoc with the mental health of their victims. South Africa has a high rate of bullying in many environments, and most victims of bullying don’t ask for help or are too ashamed to speak up. The rise of cyberbullying has given bullies a much wider range of tools to use to abuse their targets.

SADAG will be hosting a LIVE Big Bully Webinar this Wednesday, 30th August, at 6:30pm via Zoom and Facebook LIVE. Inspired by the new book “Big Bully: An epidemic of unkindness” written by author, media trainer, and award winning Journalist Marion Scher, who has also worked closely with SADAG over the last 30 years to raise awareness on various Mental Health issues. Based on interviews in schools, workplaces and homes, Marion Scher’s book tells the story of an epidemic of unkindness, uncovering the stories of bullies all around us.

“I’ve been writing about mental health for 29 years, and after researching and writing my last book, Surfacing: People Coping with Depression and Mental Illness, I realised that bullying was at the root of many mental-health issues. Like all my books on such topics, I simply want to start conversations and break the stigma around these vital topics,” says Marion Scher.

The FREE Webinar will also include Clinical Psychologist, Liane Lurie, to help unpack different types of Bullying, practical ways to deal with Bullying, understanding the dynamic of the Bully vs the Bullied, and the links between Bullying and Mental Health. There will also be real life stories to help us start more conversations on the important topic.

To join the Webinar, you can register via Zoom – click the button below to RSVP, or join the Facebook LIVE via @TheSADAG on Wednesday, 30 August, at 6:30pm.
