cope with cancer book

Literacy is a luxury that many of us take for granted. That is why SADAG created SPEAKING BOOKS and revolutionized the way healthcare information is delivered to low literacy communities.

The customizable 16-page book, read by local celebrity audio recordings, ensures that vital health and social messages can be seen, heard, read and understood by everyone across the world.

We started with books on Teen Suicide prevention , HIV, AIDS and Depression, Understanding Mental Health and have developed over 100+ titles, such as TB, Malaria, Polio, Vaccines for over 45 countries.

mental health month 2021

This Mental Health Awareness Month we are dedicated to providing you with Mental Health information, free resources, expert podcasts, live online expert sessions and more. It is important for South Africa to stay educated on the importance of Mental Healthcare, since 1 in 3 South Africans will or do suffer from a mental illness at some point in their lifetime. The harsh reality is that fewer than 1 in 10 people with a mental illness in South Africa have access to mental health care. Let’s work together and make mental health matter this month.

SADAG HERO Henry Cock

henry cock

A South African is running 2800km to raise money and "Aweh-ness" for the South African Depression and Anxiety Group

This amazing man is runnig from coast to coast to raise funds and awareness for mental health. That’s 2800km in total. From Kosi Bay, South Africa to Vioolsdrift, Namibia.

He is also aiming to break a Guiness World Record while doing it by running the most consecutive half marathons in a row - in 133 days!

His goal is to raise over R4 million for the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) and Henry has done the maths. He has worked out that if 8000 people were to donate just 10c per km (including the 300km of training he does per month) to the cause this would equate to R4.8million by the end of the year.

Henry will be paying for the record attempt and all the costs associated with the run out of his own pocket so 100% of the donations collected will be going to SADAG.

To read his story; messages from donators; or to support him, visit his BackABuddy page.

"Your message is powerful. SADAG deserves the support! They have helped me out a couple of times." - Igotyourbackbebe
