WHAT IS THE STORY ? Lace Up for Mental Health is a Mental Health awareness and fundraising initiative created by the Pirates Running Club, following the loss of a fellow runner to Suicide. What began as a moment of collective grief became a powerful movement to encourage conversations, connection, and care. At the heart of this initiative are bright green shoelaces, worn as a visible reminder that no one has to struggle alone. The message printed on each lace, “You Are Knot Alone”, serves as a gentle reminder to check in, speak up, and seek support when you need Mental Health support. In partnership with SADAG, Lace Up for Mental Health is an initiative that helps to raise funds for the Suicide Crisis Helpline, ensuring that free, confidential Mental Health support remains available to people who are experiencing Mental Health challenges. Mental Health challenges are common within high-performance, endurance, and everyday life spaces, yet they are often hidden. By wearing the laces, runners and supporters help break the silence, reduce stigma, and show solidarity with those who may be struggling quietly. |

The goal of Lace Up for Mental Health is to raise funds for SADAG’s Suicide Crisis Helpline while encouraging open conversations about mental health within running, sporting, and broader community spaces. |
