BRAVE TOGETHER

MAYBELLINE AND SADAG PARTNER TO LAUNCH NEW WHATSAPP COUNSELLING LINE

SADAG partnered with Maybelline and launched #BraveTogether dedicated Whatsapp counselling chat line available 7 days a week, from 8am-5pm. The initiative will aim to create more safe spaces for people dealing with Depression and Anxiety can reach out for help, and encourage more people to seek help and support.

Over the past two years, Maybelline facilitated global expert-led research and conducted focus groups to better understand the topic of Mental Health. Maybelline has also been working with non-profit partners around the globe to have a tangible impact on people struggling with anxiety and depression. In a world where 1 in 5 are estimated to be affected by anxiety and depression, women are disproportionately impacted. And most Mental Health conditions are ongoing or untreated. In South Africa, 1 in 3 South Africans will or do have a mental health issue at some point in their lifetime, and 9 out of 10 people with a mental health issue don’t have access to mental healthcare or treatment.

By partnering with leading non-profit organizations, Maybelline’s Brave Together program aims to break down the stigma around Anxiety and Depression, provide easily accessible support and resources, and foster a culture that lets those who are struggling and their loved ones know that they are not alone and that there is help. The specially curated online site will give people around the world access to an online community featuring real-world inspiration and stories from people on their own mental health journey, as well as Mental Health experts, tips, and resources.

So many people don’t know how to access help for their Mental Health issues, or are too afraid to talk about it and don’t seek help for their problems. “Being able to connect with a counsellor via Whatsapp any day of the week, wherever you are, is providing a safe space for more people to reach out for free help. Whether they are at work, school, home or on the bus – they can access free help through their whatsapp. Help is literally a message away!” says SADAG’s Operations Director, Cassey Chambers.
